Her Majesty The Queen’s representative in our parliamentary system has wasted no time in adding two marijuana plants to his garden this morning as the ACT becomes the first state or territory to legalise the possession and cultivation of the plant.
From today, Capital Territorians are permitted to possess up to 50 grams of cannabis and cultivate two plants as long as it’s not hydroponically.
The Governor-General, General David Hurley, took time out of his busy morning of licking stamps and shooing pigeons to speak candidly to The Advocate about the “ACT’s New Floral Emblem” as he calls it.
“I think it looks pretty and smells divine,” said General Hurley.
“But don’t think I don’t know what this stuff is! I was once a young man, a young officer. It’s not like I’m going to pull the females up when the time comes, dry them in the attic and spend the long Canberra winters inside with a big bowl of chop, half a carton of Peter Stuyvesant Classics and my Xbox,”
“No, this is a celebration of the ACT’s unique culture. It’s unique flora and fauna. This is why I added it to the garden. I’ll need to keep an eye on it, though! I’ve got Richard Di Natale coming over for pints this afternoon.”
More to come.
