An elder of our town’s Greek community has refreshed his interest in cricket this morning.
Immediately after learning a young man from Sydney with a Hellenic background was putting one of the best bowlers in the world to the sword, Yiannis Karagiannis (78), came into the living room and placed his hands on his hips.
Watching him as he sipped his fourth short black of the morning, the retired builder was trasnfixed.
His skippy son in law, Nathan, sat on the sofa with his hands on his head in disbelief watching Sam Konstas ramp then ramp again.
“Holy fuck,” he said.
“He ramped him again.”
Watching on, Karagiannis weighed in.
“We Greeks invented that, he is playing Greek style,” he said.
“No worries.”
Nath turned and nodded, missing the third ramp.
More to come.
