A man hoping to get his foot into the housing market is devastated to discover that the suburb he was really hopful about has one of those public street libraries — guarantying that the suburb is out of his financial reach.

“I just really thought this could be the one you know,” Said David Yorke (38).

“It really didn’t seem like the place was super ritzy, I had a good feeling walking up to the inspection”

“But just like a scarecrow on a field scaring off any pests, that goddamn street library stood there… I knew i was out of my depth then”

The single man, who has been looking to purchase a property for the last 2 years, has said that the spread of these street libraries is a worrying trend.

“These things just pop up everywhere, who’s building them? Why are they only in suburbs I can’t afford to live in”

David went on to lament the insidious nature of the street library phenomenon.

“It’s like a beacon for unaffordable living. You see one of those little boxes filled with second-hand books, and you just know the people around here are filthy rich”

David, still shaken by the discovery, admits he’s now recalibrating his expectations.

“At this point if I see one of those things  I don’t even go to the inspection”
