A prominent post-war migrant from Betoota’s light industrial flight path district has today accused popular Northern Beaches sticky-reggae band Ocean Alley for IP theft.
The 67-year-old fisherman spoke to The Betoota Advocate during his 5am smoko today at the Diamantina wharves.
“This hat I’m wearing..” he said.
“This used to cost me $15 dollars at Theo’s Menswear at the Flight Path Metro”
“Now it cost $150… All because of those bluddy hippies in that bluddy band”
Theo of course is talking about the trendy Sydney boys who came in at the #1 spot in Saturday’s hottest 100 with their funky chill-banger ‘Confidence’.
The band has been described as a less effeminate version of Tame Impala mixed with a less woggy version of Sticky Fingers – a combination that has proven to be a successful format that landed them four tracks all up in the national music count down, with their Like A Version cover of Player’s ‘Baby Come Back’ charting at #16, their original ‘Knees’ at #10 and ‘Happy Sad’ down at #100.
However, back in Betoota’s inner-city Greek enclave, Theo says he fears he will never be able to wear striped skivvys and his mariners cap ever again, without being confused for a music executive in the throws of a mid-life crisis.
“What’s next?” asks the furious grandfather of 47.
“Young men wearing sandals?”
