A South Betoota mortgage broker has miraculously survived being thrown under a bus by the banking Royal Commission this morning.

In what’s being described as the ‘Miracle on Earl Street,’ prominent local lender Davis Barker was accosted by the Commission around 8am this morning and in the resulting altercation, was thrown under the D45 bus to the French Quarter.

The 34-year-old is currently recovering in hospital, where staff have the Aries listed as being in a critical but stable condition.

Witness say Mr Barker was ‘minding his own business’ at the Earl Street Bus stop when all of a sudden, he was picked up and chucked under the red, white and orange Betoota Omnibus Lines with almost no warning at all.

Speaking exclusively to The Advocate, one witness (who has since asked to remain anonymous), said that it almost seemed like the Royal Commission was out to ‘fuck somebody up’ when it arrived on Earl Street and Mr Barker seemed to be the first one he saw.

“I mean, it was a savage attack,” they said.

“There wasn’t even any argy-bargy or a verbal beforehand, the Commission just grabbed that poor man by the shirt and chucked him right under the bus without warning,”

“I hope he’s OK, the ABC said he’s recovering in hospital.”

Police from the South Betoota Local Area Command have sealed the area off and investigators from the town’s major crash unit are at the scene collecting evidence.

As of noon, no charges have been laid by police but the investigation is ongoing.

More to come.
