The head honchos at Athletics Australia have today dropped a bombshell ahead of the second week of the Olympics.
In a bid for one of our best medal hauls in history, the people in charge of our track and field program have revealed that they have registered a late bid for a new entrant in the 100 metres sprint event.
A spokesperson for Athletic team say they have received special dispensation to register Australian 7s superstar Maddison Levi in the 100 metre dash.
Levi has been sensationally put forward for the sprint after breaking the record for the most tries scored at an Olympic tournament, with two games still to play.
With the Aussie Women’s 7s team currently on fire in Paris, the athletics association is hoping that Levi can bring home Gold with the gals, before enjoying a couple of nights out in Pariee, and then bringing home another bit of goldware in the athletics.
“It’s a no brainer,” laughed the spokesperson for the Athletic team.
“The Olympic Committee wanted to see her recent times, but we just sent them the highlight package from the pool stage and quarter finals of the 7s tournament.”
“And the times for her record breaking 20 metre dash at the AFLW combine.”
“We are still weighing up whether she goes in one of the jumping events, given she also broke records for that as an AFLW draftee.”
“Her high school times from the Goldie are also wild,” laughed the spokesperson about the Miami High alum.
“So, she can go win a medal with 7s, party it up and then win another one on the track. She knows the Stade De France well.”
More to come.
