A local 73-year-old man, Harold Wesley, who made headlines earlier this year for staging a protest against his old high school’s decision to go co-ed, has boldly announced that uni students protesting wars are just doing it because they have nothing better to do.
Harold, a retired accountant and proud old boy of a prominent all boys private school, gained local notoriety when he picketed outside his former school in an attempt to stop the school from going co-ed.
As an avid-protester many were surprised to hear that Harold has somewhat different views regarding the act of protesting when it comes to uni students on campus opposing a war.
“This is what happens when you have a soft generation of kids that are stuck on their phone with too much bloody time and money on their hands” Harold said.
Despite growing up in the best economic era of human existence, receiving free uni and being able to buy a house a few years after graduation, he is adamant that Gen Z has it way easier than he did and that’s why they get so caught up in these trivial issues overseas.
“Back in my day you had to work, sure we were motivated to work a lot more because we could actually save for a home, but still, these kids need to get their bloody priorities straight.”
When questioned on what many would call a contradiction with the fact that he has a colourful past of protesting himself, the retiree vigorously dismissed the claims.
“Mate that’s totally different, the co-ed debacle was about tradition, keeping things exactly how they were is the only thing I think people should really ever protest!”
