Though he’s been added to the squad on a number of occasions, this year for Christmas, the nation is asking Santa Claus for Queenland cricketer Mitch Swepson to finally get a start in the national Test team.

The 27-year-old wrist-spinner is a no brainer for this summer’s Test fixtures against India but cricket fans around the country are asking Annual Gift Man to make sure we’ll finally see legspin return to our red-ball game.

Swepson was first added to the Test squad in early 2017 but failed to get picked. Later that year he went to Bangladesh but again, he didn’t get a start. In December last year, the same happened against New Zealand.

“It’s bullshit,” said one local cricket fan.

“Just let him play, for fucks sake.”

He’s been bowling well in the Sheffield Shield season and incredbily, he hasn’t been that bad with the bat. Now is the time.

“So we’re asking Santa to give us our present early,” said the nation.

“Get Mitch his Baggy Green. Invite Shane to give it to him. Film it and put it on the TV for us all to see,”

“Steve Smith was picked as a bowler once upon a time and now look at him,”

“Do the right thing or else we’ll have to boot the sidemirrors off Trevor Hohns’ HSV Senator again.”

More to come.
