Local woman Amy Matthews (24) recently started a new office job and is not surprised at all that the off-putting annoying guy in the office happens to be a die hard Doctor Who fan.
Early signs of the devastating realisation started on her first morning in the office, a loud echo could be heard coming from the office kitchen.
“Gary mate!! How was London?? Surely you swung past the Doctor Who exhibition while you were over there?!”
“No?”
“Maaate Doctor Who is iconic! It was literally my childhood” the 38 year old yelled at a fellow co-worker that still hadn’t acknowledged his presence.
Todd Prichard (38), a self proclaimed Whovian, claims he’s the office joker and resident geek – despite being universally loathed by his entire office.
Amy was reportedly devastated to see Todd make his way back to his chair – the chair happened to be the one next to where Amy was told do set up her new work space.
“Just my luck that I have to sit next to the Doctor Who fan”
“Just like most people I’ve found Doctor Who fans unbearable since I was in year 2”
“They’re just such dorks”
Amy’s fears were quickly confirmed. As soon as she sat down, Todd swung around with the kind of enthusiasm reserved for people obsessed with their Reddit karma.
“Hey, new girl! Who’s your favorite Doctor? Tennant? Capaldi?”
Amy, still unpacking her laptop, forced a smile. “Uh, yeah… sure.”
Soon, Todd was quoting obscure Doctor Who lines and showing off his “flawless” Time Lord impressions. Amy, trapped beside him, wondered if she’d made a mistake taking this job.
“I can’t get through an email without hearing the TARDIS noise,” she complained later. Todd also cluttered his desk with quirky British nostalgia memorabilia.
