Queensland’s defacto leader Anastasia Palaszczuk has told critics that the border to the south will remain shut until after the election when it’s no longer a political issue.
Keeping the border closed is a popular policy and keeping it shut is keeping Palaschuk ahead of her Liberal-National counterpart ahead of the October 31 election.
“So it’s going to remain closed,” said Palaschuk today in our state’s self-important south east corner.
“It should be obvious to you all by now that my political future and survival is worth more than the entire Queensland tourism industry put together. It’s worth more than cancer patients who live in New South Wales but receive treatment in Queensland,”
“This border closure is about maintaining and protecting the Anastasia Palaszczuk brand,”
“You should start planning for a border reopening in November.”
More to come.
