Anthony Albanese has today responded to Peter Dutton’s continual requests for ‘detail’ – by reminding him of the past.
Peter Dutton has this week continued to mask his dog whistling on the Indigenous voice to parliament, by pretending he’s a dotting the i’s kind of guy.
As a result, the Prime Minister has now promised to provide the Opposition Leader with the same amount of detail he provided on numerous different political issues.
“I’m happy to offer up the level of detail that Mr Dutton gave us on the 423 million dollar security contract for Manus Island that was awarded to a company whose headquarters were a shack on Kangaroo Island.”
“Or the level of detail he’s given us on whether he was a member of the Pinkenba six”
“Or even the level of detail he’s given us on why people say that dog food was left on his desk at the Queensland Police Force back in the day.”
Albanese’s comments come as Dutton continues to pretend like he’s a stickler for the little details, despite giving a company a 423 million dollar contract with a “limited tender process.”
That contract to run the detention centre on Manus Island allowed the company running out of a beach shack to pocket roughly 15-20 million dollars worth of profits a month – with few questions asked about where the fuck our tax payer dollars were going.
However, now there’s some culture wars headlines at stake, Dutton says he’s really keen to sift through the nitty gritty of what the government is proposing – just to make sure he’s across all the details.
That desire comes despite the government and advocates for a voice to parliament saying that the upcoming referendum should simply be a vote on whether you believe in the concept of constitutional recognition and a voice to parliament.
More to come.
