The State Of Queensland has today announced who will be filling in for new fan favourite Justis Huni at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 22-year-old heavyweight was forced to withdraw from the Games after damaging his hands by punching Paul Gallen in the head so many times.
While every punch was cheered by the Sunshine State, Gallen, the former perennial NSW State of Origin loser and his incredibly hard cranium has somehow come good on his promise to ruin Huni’s Olympic dream.
With Huni now needing surgery on both his hands, contingency plans have been made.
Tino ‘Big Country’ Fa’asuamaleaui has been given the nod to step up and punch on for the nation in a few weeks time.
That’s if he can stop himself breaking his hands on any New South Welshmen’s heads off course.
“Everyone saw Big Country ripping and tearing in last year’s origin,” said Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today.
“So, he’s the perfect candidate to do Queensland and the Gympie region proud.”
“Imagine the damage he could do when 7 or 8 Queenslanders aren’t pulling him back.”
“I do just want to say though, that despite the fact Tino is probably the strongest contestant in the event, he’s still an underdog. A big underdog. But he’ll tap into that Queensland spirit and he’ll find a way.”
We contacted the Queensland Maroons staff for comment on the nomination, but were informed that Tino is currently in hospital with a bad case of bird flu and is in doubt for Game 2.
