A local Brisbane man has bamboozled a mate today after suggesting that Aussie Rules has actually been played professionally for a while now.
Hutchies Construction Manager, Clint Garbrandt, who never made it up through the grades in junior footy shocked a couple of friends with his comments last night.
Finishing a brief phone break from the conversation, Garbrandt decided to tell his companions that the Brisbane Lions AFL team is actually building quite nicely of late.
With a befuddled look upon his face, long time friend Alf Smith asked Garbrandt “what the fuck he was talking about,” pointing out that AFL only existed during the years from 2001-2003, with the possible exception of early 2004.
“Like when Vossy, and Browny and Akermanis were playing,” Smith said.
“They don’t still play that do they?” he asked.
Garbrandt tried to explain to the group that AFL is actually growing in popularity along the Eastern Seaboard but gave up due to continued laughter before they started googling ‘Greatest State of Origin Biffs.”
