A local father who’s no mechanic but doesn’t mind changing the odd spark plug or two has today insisted on his adult children popping the hood of their cars, just so he can see how she’s running.
Terry Branaghan (65) is a retired police officer who moved his family to a small property in the wider Betoota area about 5 years ago.
Since then the avid tinkerer has kept his mind busy by attempting to fix any broken machine around the property.
“Yeah, Beth, looks like you could do with a bit more water. When’s the last time you had it serviced?” questioned Terry.
“And these tyres? Mmhmmm reckon they’ve got a couple months left in them – the tread, see you can tell by the tread.”
He continued to no one in particular.
The Advocate reached out to Beth, Terry’s daughter, to see if she’s taking on board her dad’s advice.
“Uhh, yeah kind of”
“I more just let him do it because then it means I don’t have to”
“I don’t think I’ve ever put water in my car”
“I mostly just go to the mechanic and wait for them to rip me off”
At this point Terry had finished inspecting Beth’s car and had given her the all clear to drive back to Brisbane.
More to come.
