A woman whoâs chosen to say nup to the cup because the racing industry is just âanimals being exploited by the richâ has come to the startling realisation that she too, is an animal being exploited by the rich.
Despite being reasonably well paid with her tech sales position, Amelie Waterdeep, 29, says she knows for a fact that sheâs made her boss an âabsolute fuck tonâ of money this year, and certainly a lot more than the measly $150 bonus she got last month.
Now, sitting in her small office cubicle as she explains to her older coworker why she didnât want to participate in the office sweepstakes this afternoon, Amelie is starting to notice a few too many similarities that have her reevaluating her life.
âI canât support racing, not when itâs just a drug fuelled, profit driven industry that sees horses as expendable assets, existing only to line the pockets of rich peopleâ, says Amelie.
“Like sure, they may toss a bit of extra molasses in their oats when they’ve had a win, but that’s nothing in comparison to the earnings they’ve made off the back of the horse’s labour.”
“And then when they no longer serve their purpose, these rich arseholes don’t give a fuck what happens to them!”
