In a world first last night, a man in Betoota Heights has placed a soft, lightly-golden loaf garlic bread on the table at the beginning of the meal.
Whille the guests were sitting down to one of his signature Chicken Carbonara’s, Arj McCain, a local pea farmer, casually approached the oven. Then, like the golden sun rising over the colosseum, he pulled out the perfectly baked treasure and placed it on the dinner table, much to the bewilderment of those in attendance.
Speaking exclusively to The Betoota Advocate, Terry said that he couldn’t really explain how it happened. “I don’t know I guess I just remembered” he said, shrugging his shoulders.
Arj’s girlfriend, Zara, revealed there was a moment of silence, before the table erupted in rapturous applause. “It was really something. The bread was perfectly golden-brown. The crust was still soft. Even on the end bits”.
Another guest agreed. “Mate you couldn’t make that shit up. None of us had ever seen it happen. Growing up it was the only time we’d ever heard mum drop the f-bomb. Usually about two thirds of the way through the meal”.
He also said how strangely wonderful it felt, having the first bite of his meal being so warm, juicy and garlicy. “It almost felt wrong” he smirked.
Terry has since admitted that it was definitely a one-off and that “it most certainly will never happen again”.
