In some breaking news out of the developers capital of the country, Sydney, the Australian Cricket Selectors have announced sensational changes for the next Test.
With the Australian team losing a home series to India for the first time ever, and no batsmen scoring a century across the four tests, selectors have responded to increasing pressure by implementing drastic changes.
Under fire for their at times confusing top order picks, the selectors announced today that they would be appointing Overcast Showers to open the batting for the Sri Lanka series.
This comes after Overcast Showers managed to grittily fight out the last 4 sessions of play today and yesterday to avoid another loss for the Australian team.
“The combo of Poor Light and Drizzly Showers showed incredible fight and tenacity in the shadows of the Test Match,” said Chairman of Selectors Trevor Hohns.
“They showed more fight and ability to stay out in the middle for extended periods of time than any other Australian batsman, and as such we have promoted them up the order for the next series,” he said.
“We hope that by giving the pair the nod to open the batting, the rest of the team may follow their example and spend some time at the crease.”
Hohns refused to comment on where/if Marcus Harris and Usman Khawaja would be playing in the next test, but said he hopes the move appeases Shane Warne who seems to be under the impression that he is also a selector.
