Opposition leader Bill Shorten has had an egg on his face moment this weekend after
This comes after Shorten’s notorious ‘Bill Bus’ wound up its trip around Queensland to prove Prime Minister Scott Morrison isn’t the only one who can travel around the state making promises he can’t keep while causing environmental damage.
It was during a brief stop in Townsville to purchase the mid-section of a sausage roll that Shorten noticed the bus indicator was on and had indeed been on for the past 11 years.
“Oh dear,” choked Shorten.
“Does anyone know how to switch it off?”
Embarrassed by the revelation his left indicator had been blinking since a forgotten era of stable government, Shorten made a few vague references to Johnathan Thurston before returning to the bus and asking an adviser if it was at all possible this could somehow be Tony Abbott’s fault.
“I thought about telling him,” said Deputy party leader Tanya Plibersek.
“But he never seemed to be having a good moment. There simply wasn’t ever an appropriate time.”
