A Sydney woman has today spent the morning trying to contain her excitement regarding an exciting event that is about to take place in her hometown.
Parramatta woman Merry Lands told The Advocate that she spent her flight to Townsville length commute trying not to get too wound up about the new Sydney Football Stadium.
With union strikes bringing Sydney’s transport network to a complete standstill, Lands said she had plenty of time to ponder the state of her great city.
“Obviously I was trying not to get too excited, because I was pressed up against 4 different people on a stationary train that was packed like a tin of sardines,” laughed Lands.
“But I had plenty of time to think about the grand re-opening of the Sydney Football Stadium this weekend.”
While the city battles with the consequences of the state government’s penny-pinching in regards to their employees, relief is in sight with a festival of sport set to take place this Friday and Saturday night at Moore Park, in the city’s leafy east.
“I mean these bloody train drivers are trying to bleed the public coffers dry,” said the furious Parramatta local.
“That’s money that could be going towards knocking down perfectly functioning stadiums and building brand new ones that are just a little bit shinier,” she said in regards to the 828 million dollar build that blew out from the initial cost of 700 million dollars.
“Anyway, I try not to think about it because it winds me up too much.”
“I’m just thinking about getting down there to watch the Wallabies.”
