WHAT YOU DOING AFTER THIS? In local news, Sydney’s rental inspection lines have emerged as Sydney’s latest hotspot for eligible bachelors. With the city’s dating scene notoriously difficult to navigate, single women are now flocking to these queues, hoping to find long leasing love.

Real estate agents are thrilled with the surge in attendance at open homes. They know that many prospective tenants won’t secure a lease, but at least there’s a good chance they might score a date…

“It’s like a live-action Hinge,” says Tim Simmons, a local real estate agent. “We’ve seen everything from love-struck glances over rental applications to phone numbers scribbled on property brochures.”

Terms like “rental romance” and “lease love” are gaining traction as hopeful singles swap strategies for scoring both a flat and a date.

“I’ve lined up at over 20 rental inspections and managed to pick up twice while arguing over a two-bedroom in Surry Hills,” says Ben, 28. “She was so desperate to secure the property, she even offered to take the smaller room. It was love at first sight.”

Experts suggest that the competitive nature of Sydney’s rental market makes those who can afford to rent in a beachside suburb particularly attractive.

So, for those tired of swiping left and right, it might be time to grab a rental application and join the queue – your dream home and partner could be just a few inspection lines away.

More to come.
