A local Thai restaurant has caused a stir today.
The venue angered patrons for deciding to play pop song originals, rather than the random acoustic versions so common in South East Asian eating houses.
The popular eating spot in the CBD was criticised by numerous locals for straying away from the tried and trusted formula.
Rather than play the slow, acoustic versions of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and One Direction, the venue decided to mix some of the originals in with some current chart-topping hits.
The move did not go down well, with over 10 reported complaints this afternoon.
Zip Thai, the restaurant at the centre of the allegations, confirmed that they did give the acoustic covers a rest for the afternoon in the desire to try something new.
The restaurant’s matriarch, Ms Pengngam (64) spoke with The Advocate about the controversy this afternoon.
She explained that, while she did understand the custom is to play the acoustic covers she just thought she might give something else a whirl to change the pace a bit.
“But, I guess I won’t be doing that again. Don’t worry, we’ll be sticking to the script from now on. I’m putting on a slow no-name version of Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl right now.”
