British DJ Fred Again… appears to have been in Australia for months now, with no signs of leaving anytime soon.
For those not in the know, Fred Again (or simply just FRED), is a Grammy-winning English record producer, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and DJ who seems to have a vise-like grip on young urban professionals, who have turned out in similar numbers to Swifties last month.
However, the main difference between the wildly succesful Fred Again tour and the wildly succesful Taylor Swift tour, is that Taylor Swift’s tour ended
Fred Again.. who’s known for spontaneously announcing gigs, arrived in Australia at a similar time to Taylor Swift, but has been treating his fans to side shows and new release tickets ever since.
Upon announcement of his first batch of show Ticketek claimed more than 1 million fans swarmed its site and bought more than 100,000 tickets to the Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast shows “in a matter of hours”.
He has done this several times since.
Furthermore, social media would dictate that Fred Agains fans have no problem attending two or more of his gigs a week, or multiple gigs across multiple weeks.
It is not yet known if Fred Again will ever leave Australia, but judging by the repeated ticket sales numbers, he really doesn’t need to rush home.
With the 2024 Splendour In The Grass line-up announced late last night, it’s clear that a couple of centimetres in each day’s headline acts has been left empty against Fred Again wants to stay here until July.
