In a rare example of the Liberal Party avoiding an appropriate acknowledgement of the First Nations people, Former Prime Minister Uncle Tony Abbott has today received executive orders to stay in his corporate box at The Wallabies.
This comes after the newly appointed Special Envoy to Indigenous Affairs attempted to break onto the field at Suncorp Stadium to present a Welcome To Country before the Wallabies kicked off against the South African Springboks.
It is believed that Uncle Tony may have been triggered during the Afrikaans verse of the South African anthem, which instantly reminded him of his involvement in the early 1990s anti-apartheid demonstrations at Musgrave Park with the Brisbane mob.
Bystanders report seeing the embattled Minister storming into the stadium from Caxton street, with the intent of stealing the microphone from the reality TV star preparing to sing the Australian anthem.
“I better remind these boers that we are on Jagera land!” shouted Uncle Tony.
It was at that time that Liberal Party staffers, directed by local MP Trevor Evans, were forced to physically subdue Uncle Tony.
“No Uncle. You’re not the right person for that job” says his media advisor, Creta Pedlin, as she put his didgeridoo back in the boot of the Commonwealth car.
“This isn’t an All Stars match, this is the elbow patch type of rugby. We don’t do Welcome To Country unless they’ve got the Aboriginal jerseys on.”
“Plus you aren’t from here, you’re from London”
Uncle Tony then apologised for going wild, but insisted that Kurtley would have had his back if any of the South Africans wanted to gee-oh.
