Unknown Indie Band From Fitzroy Announce They Too Will Be Taking Their 5 Track EP Off Spotify

An indie band from Fitzroy have today announced that they too, will be removing their tracks off Spotify, after a showdown between Joe Rogan and Neil Young culminated in the rockstar being removed from the platform.

With musicians such as Joni Mitchell and Nils Lonfgren pulling their music in an act of solidarity, even the smallest bands are feeling compelled to throw their hat into the ring – though it’s highly unlikely Spotify will care unless a big name like Swift or Adele follows suit.

One such band is Fitzroy based indie artists ‘The Don Dappers‘, who’ve managed to make a small name for themselves busking on Brunswick street.

It’s alleged the lead singer Dennis had tossed the idea to his crew, who unanimously agreed there was no way they could support a platform that allowed someone like Joe Rogan to speak freely. 

The band spoke to our reporter Effie, to explain how they came to the decision.

“I find it absolutely appalling that Spotify has allowed Joe Rogan to remain”, says a disgusted Dennis.

“I’m sorry, but how is some meat head rambling about DMT worth more than one of the greatest musicians of our time?”

The drummer – a rather dazed looking bloke called Michael – nods furiously and says the band had no option but to remove their music, or become complicit in misinformation.

“If you stand for nothing, you fall for anything”, says Michael, quoting some motivational post he saw on Instagram earlier that day.

“If the people unite, that’s when affirmative action can really make a difference.”

When asked if removing a profile with four followers would even be noticed by Spotify, Dennis says it’s really more of a collective effort.

“Yeah nah like it’s part of being a movement, if we all have that attitude then nothing would ever happen.”

“You’ve got to hit them where it hurts.”
