As the strawberry contamination scandal spreads across the country the fallout for the industry continues with Health Minister Greg Hunt ordering a federal investigation into the matter.

However, the needle contaminations appear to be small fries when compared against the newest scandal rocking the Australian fruit and vegetables industry.

Several consumers across the country have today taken to social media to call out out grocery chains, after finding loaded crossbows in their watermelons.

Taree Central Shopping Centre in New South Wales and central Queensland’s Stockland Rockhampton are just two venues that have reportedly sold crossbow’d watermelons, as both Coles and Woolworths demand emergency recalls.

“This is, weird” says Agricultural Minister, David Littleproud MP.

“Like, who thinks of that shit. There’s disgruntled, and then there’s just flat out bizarre. That would have taken like an hour to put one of those bad boys inside a watermelon”

However, despite the Member For Maranoa writing off the fresh fruit crisi as simply ‘weird’ – consumers say they are terrified.

“You tell me how you’d like it” said one unlucky shopper.

“I was fanging for a watermelon all day, and when I cut the fucking thing open there’s a crossbow pointed at my face. It was like Walking Dead”

“Scary as”

Police are urging anyone who finds contaminated strawberries or watermelons to contact them, while health authorities are recommending fruit of all brands be cut up before eating.
