Settling into his seventh Crown Lager of the evening, Ascot father-of-four Glenn Coalman flicks through his saved shows on his MyStar box to find his favourite episode of Andrew Bolt’s Sky News programme.
Chuckling to himself each time the conservative points out the hypocrisy of the left, the 66-year-old sat bolt upright on his Nick Scali sofa when the correlation between Waleed Aly calling out Dick Smith for endorsing One Nation and the collapse of the ‘Dick Smith’ brand was pointed out to him by the former Insiders regular.
“It all makes sense to me now,” explained Coalman. “As soon as Dick Smith suggested that Pauline has got it right regarding immigration, people stop going to his shops. You can bet your bottom dollar that Waleed had a hand in it, too.”
Though his middle son has explained to him previously that the four-eyed racist hasn’t had anything to with the Dick Smith brand since the 1980s, that wasn’t a big enough fire blanket to extinguish his father’s rant while he got up to retrieve another Crownie from the bar fridge.
“That’s beside the point. You’re missing the big picture. If Dick had come out and said we should have a German-style-open-border immigration policy, you’d have every man and his gender come down to his shops to buy a new television. Instead, they’re trying to ruin him,” he said.
“I mean, the mind boggles.”
Mr Coalman then demanded that our reporter get out of his house, explaining that he had a busy afternoon of yelling at his wife in public planned.
