Sammy Leech, a local yoga enthusiast holidaying in Bali, has bucked yogi protocol today after she made it through her entire 8-day retreat without uploading a single photo of herself in some lame yoga pose.

According to Sammy, she was close to uploading photos a number of times, but refrained for fear of being judged by her non-yogi friends.

ā€œI know I shouldnā€™t care about what people think, but theyā€™re kinda right,ā€ she said.

ā€œUploading photos doing a yoga pose in a public location is so cringe.ā€

ā€œLike, why would I be doing Upward Bow Pose (Urdhva Dhanurasana) at a busy marketplace?ā€

ā€œIā€™m really glad I didnā€™t do it.ā€

Since the rise of Instagram, yogis across the globe have found it near impossible to go anywhere without feeling compelled to do a yoga pose in a public location, not only inconveniencing those around them, but also the people who have to scroll past the image in their feed.

Despite being applauded for not uploading a shit yoga photo, Sammy did still succumb to other basic stereotypes in Bali by uploading multiple photos of herself laying on a day bed pretending not to be aware that a photo was being taken, but actually being 100 per cent aware that the photo was being taken.

More to come.
