Elon Musk has today announced he will be changing up the design of his electric car company, ‘Tesla’, by launching a new look that’s modelled on car designs from the early 1900s.

Posting the image to his X profile, Musk says he wanted to pay homage to ‘the power of past greatness’, by mixing a classic look with modern technology.

Even at an eyewatering price tag of $299,000, the new design is alleged to already have clocked over 100,000 presales all across the US and Europe before it’s available to the public on April 20, 2025.

“I’ve always thought modern car design was quite boring and unimaginative”, said Musk, “so I figured, why not create a classic car that can run on electricity?”

Musk says he chose to replicate the Mercedes 770, as it’s ‘obscenely large and extravagant, whilst being quite conservative.”

“I couldn’t think of a better vehicle to reflect the future of our beautiful nation.”

More to come.
