Despite his disastrous debate performance, and several career-defining gaffes over the last 24 hours – President Joe Biden has insisted that he’s staying in the race.
With Congress returning to session, several senior House Democrats have called on Biden to step down – however, the wider Democratic Party remain confident in Biden.
Onlookers also remain confident that the Democrats know what they are doing, and aren’t on their knees praying to whatever Pentecostal brand of Jesus has overtaken their hometowns and convinced everybody that reproductive health is the work of Satan.
While the re-election of Trump in 2024 woulds bring with it a new wave of uncertainties about America’s ability to keep a cool hand in the midst of escalating global conflicts, the entire world is growing more and more nervous with every visible sign of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
However, there remains hope that the Democrats know what they are doing. Because they always do.
Even when they dismissed the enormous grassroots momentum behind Bernie Sanders as a potential Democrat nominee in 2016, and instead labelled him a radical leftist probblem child, which allowed them to shortball the war hawk Hillary Clinton as one of the few candidates that Trump could actually beat.
The fact that Clinton represented the very worst of the American ‘born-to-rule’ political class – that Donald Trump was railing against -appeared lost on the Democrats.
But still, they made the right call. Because Bernie Sanders wouldn’t shut up about improving healthcare and holding Wall Street accountable.
In fact, as evident in Julian Assange’s leaks of Hillary Clinton’s email correspondence, the Democrats even had to stoop lower than most people thought by weaponising anti-semitism and urging her most sympathetic journalists to drill Bernie Sanders with questions about his Jewish faith. Only to be met with baseball bats from tens of millions of American voters who decided they would prefer Trump over the second Clinton in two decades.
But with everything seemingly going to shit for the Democrats from the moment Hillary Clinton was sent in as the worst possible candidate to face up against Donald Trump, it seems that maybe 2024 could finally be the moment for the 82-year-old Bernie Sanders.
After only narrowly missing out on nomination in 2020, and his mind still sharp as a tack, there is the possibility that maybe even an older candidate could be a better option that the incumbent President in 2024.
MORE TO COME.
